A new weekly farmer’s market is scheduled to open at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch in September. Housed at the Old Kitchen Building in Spier’s historic farmyard, Die Werf, the new market will take place on Saturdays and focus specifically on sustainable products. The market will also sell products supporting sustainable practices – like worm tea, compost, bee hives, heirloom seeds or worm hotels, for instance. The market is organised by Studio H, the team responsible for the Street Food Festival as well as the Spier Secret Festival.
This development comes after the announcement last month that Top 10 chef Pj Vadas would be opening a craft bakery and café at Spier’s Die Werf this coming spring.
The market is currently calling for vendors. If you’re a sustainable producer and would like to sell your wares at the market, contact market@studio-h.co.za with your name, website address, photos and information about your products, your food philosophy and details of where you’re currently trading, if applicable.
