The heritage that is Groot Phesantekraal dates back to 1698 when the land was given to its first owner, Olof Bergh, by Governor Simon van der Stel. In 1759 the property was sold to the Louw family and later purchased by Arend Brink in 1897. Groot Phesantekraal Restaurant offers contemporary Country style Bistro cuisine with a casual feel and a ever changing seasonal menu. The food and wine available here is just another element to this diverse farm. Managed by Daniela and Michael Smith, with the kitchen under the watchful eye of Chef Darren Allsopp.

The chef Juan van Deventer and restaurant manager Maret van Deventer are an excellent power house couple. Their menu selection changes every season, which is the best reason to come back all year round. The food will impress the most intricate palate. The marriage of all the flavours & textures together is always impeccable. The wines are also exquisite and pairs very well with all the dishes served. Today my gammon cheese waffle was just beautiful. A mouth full of flavour bursts. My desert the sticky toffee pudding. Excellent finish to our brunch. The staff is so tentative and caring. I highly recommend Groot Phesantekraal
