Eat Out Magazine 2007 – Review by Nikki Werner
Magica Roma keeps up the good work and its reputation for brilliant Italian food in an environment that’s unassuming and friendly. If hosts Ezio and Franco know you, they are likely to whip the menus out of your hands, demand to know what you feel like and spontaneously come up with something tailor-made to your mood, appetite and tastes. (Just for the record, they will humour you with the process even if they don’t know you on a first-name basis.)
The antipasti plates are good and pizzas come piled with finely chopped ham or whatever you choose. A cosy suburban restaurant means wait staff from the surrounding suburbs and that can mean relief from pretensiousness, but service can sometimes get tardy. Value for money is good, there’s a great deal of fantastic Italian wine, and the grappa trolley of 30 to choose from.
