So you have a fat pocket and a desire to accidentally bump into Reese Witherspoon. Nice. Here are two fab restaurants making waves in California lately – for you to check out next time you’re in town.

A cut above
The superlative Four Seasons Hotel, in Beverly Hills, is the backdrop for the new CUT restaurant.

The interior has been overhauled and a mod high-end look created, complete with two levels and a theatre kitchen.

Infamous chef, Wolfgang Puck, and architect Richard Meier were the top team responsible for the décor and menu transformation.

This is a meat-lover’s restaurant so avoid if you’re a veggie. The waiter brings different cuts of meat to the table (before it’s cooked) in order to help you with your decision.

The art at this eatery is the thoughtful meat preparation and the range of gourmet sauces to match your choice. Try the Kobe steak sashimi for starters and of course choose from a various range of beef for mains – there is also delicious-sounding seafood on the menu for alternative options.

This really is evolved steakhouse chic.

Ravioli from the gods at E.Baldi
Another Beverly Hills hotspot, catering for the rich and famous, is the interestingly named E.Baldi.

The restaurant belongs to Edoardo Baldi, son of a well-known Italian restaurant owner in the area. Yes the food is also Italian, but it is rumoured to be a step up from the original.

Celebs are already flocking and the eatery is bustling most lunchtimes.

What’s great is that there are new dishes everyday, in a lot of the categories. Interestingly, there is a distinct emphasis on lashings of butter instead of olive oil.

Word of advice – don’t ask the price of the yummy ravioli, risotto or beef carpaccio with shaved white truffles specials (just do it) and expect whopping wine prices.

Other delicacies include polenta, gnocchi with lobster and the divine veal roast.

Those who have been there say ignore the snobby management and just enjoy the food.

It is after all, quite excellent.
