Opulent, splendid, exotic – walking into Kitima is a complete delight.
This historic homestead in Hout Bay has been converted into a beautifully appointed Asian restaurant. The central hub comprises a marble bottom-lit bar, coupled with cosy couches – perfect for catching up over a drink and dim sum, or enjoying a relaxed meal.
For those that prefer tables, there is a choice of three dining rooms that lead off the bar area. And if you are quick enough, grab the little “love nest”, as we called it – a tiny, lavishly decorated hideaway tucked away round the corner.
The food is superb.
The duck was rated as “the best duck ever” from a connoisseur. I loved my selection of starters, and the beef chilli dish was yum, as was the sushi I enjoyed on a previous occasion.
The menu offers a hybrid selection of favourites and new dishes – and should satisfy any palate that savours the magical combinations of Asian flavours.
And to complete the experience, the waitress really did come all the way from Thailand.
If you intend going to Kitima, please book first. This restaurant is jam-packed most nights.
