The Village Walk Shopping Centre in Sandton is hosting a food festival on August 8, blending Italian, Portuguese and ‘Township-style’ cuisine, all in one night.
The idea is to eat a three-course meal, dividing up the courses between restaurants, transporting yourself from one culture to another throughout the evening.
Enjoy stand up comedians, live jazz, wine tasting and an art exhibition along with way.
Selected dishes from from gourmet chefs will be presented, including Executive Chef, Tinus Pretorious, winner of the 2006 Chef de Cuisine and 2007 Sunday Times Chef of the Year competition contestant.
Participating eateries
Suite16 is an up-market township restaurant metaphorically born on the 16th June 1976. It mirrors a South African raised in the townships in the 70’s and 80’s, but now living in affluence in Joburg’s posh suburbs. It is a story of a juxtaposition of worlds and influences: true township food without a doubt, but the preparation and presentation is five-star.
Tivoli is a highly successful restaurant with sparkling humour and a buzz which has been almost 40 years in the marking. The glitterati gather here to share their pleasures of the wonderful platters of antipasti as they show off their endless capacity for enjoyment and a taste of the finer things in life, the true taste of Tivoli. Michealangelo nudes adorn the walls, the pizza oven flares and the enthusiastic staff enjoy themselves as much as the intently chatting crowd of diners do.
OGalito is an upmarket restaurant specialising in fine Portuguese dishes, complemented with world class service. Combining both class and sophistication in a relaxed casual atmosphere, the dining area is bi-level and has mini patios overlooking part of the Village Walk shopping centre.
