Having aquired a boutique winery in the Roussillon region of the south of France in early 2006, the Grier Family of Villiera Wines in Stellenbosch is already bearing the fruit of their French labour.

Combining their knowledge and experience of the New World style with the more traditional approach of the French, Villiera Wines recently launched a range of seven wines under the Domaine Grier label, dividing it between Vin de Pays and Côtes du Roussillon.

The Vin de Pays range consists of four wines that are more modern in style, including varietals such as Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, Maccabeu and Viognier. While the Côtes du Roussillon wines are more classical in style, emphasising the terroir of the region, and include blends of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre.

Reportedly the estates old, unirrigated vines yield sparingly and the wines respond with intense flavours and balance.
