Celebrating our mystical fifth taste sensation – the savoury umami (in addition to sweet, salty, bitter and sour ) – Umami restaurant in Stellenbosch has just launched its summer menu.
According to the team at Umami their objective is to unlock and accentuate the deliciousness in each of the dishes on their menu.
Try Chef Martin Senekals innovative tasting menu (5 courses with matching wine) with such appealing combinations as herb butter encased chicken liver parfait with port jelly or grilled linefish with parmesan polenta and a warm salad of cucumber, confit rosa tomatoes, calamata olives, green asparagus and artichokes.
Main courses offer diners more traditional combinations such as beef sirloin with sauce Bearnaise or Honey, soy and orange steamed pork belly. And best of all, the food items on the menu come with informative wine suggestions of which a wide variety is available by the glass.
