The infamous Russell Shapiro, owner of the much-loved Green Point establishment, Cafe Manhattan, has opened another restaurant in the area – the friendly neighbourhood pizzeria, Chiappinis.

The elegantly styled eatery offers a small but adequate selection of antipasti, salads and sandwiches, as well as pizzas and pastas. For a quick lunchtime bite try a bacon mozarella and pine nut salad or a simple salami and brie sandwhich.

In a town where even the most simple delights such as burgers and pizzas receive the gourmet treatment, it is also refreshing to see a focused selection of pizzas with a range of simply-paired combinations such as feta cheese, olives, avocado and tomato or bacon, banana and pineapple.

Pasta lovers can feast on all the hearty classics such as bolognaise, carbonara, lasagne and napolitana.
