KwaZulu-Natal loses great chef

Yvonne Cosson, chef and owner of the acclaimed KwaZulu-Natal south coast restaurant, La Petite Normandie, was found murdered in her Ramsgate home on Tuesday 8 January, reports SAPA. Police believe that robbery was the motive.

Cosson moved to South Africa from Normandy, France over 20 years ago and had earned enormous respect for her outstanding contribution to the South African restaurant industry.

According to Eat Out assistant editor, Lisa van Aswegen, Cosson had an amazing spirit and a naughty twinkle in her eye.

La Petite Normandie was regularly nominated as one of the top eating establishments in KwaZulu-Natal and in 2005 won the Eat Out Johnnie Walker Top Country Kitchens award.

In the 2008 edition of Eat Out magazine, Frank Chemaly wrote, Yvonne Cosson is a great cook, and in her humble home produces many of the finest dishes of her native Normandy.
