Vive Le Quartier Francais!

The Tasting Room at Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek has once again been selected as one of the worlds 50 best restaurants – for the fourth consecutive year.

Hailed by many as the most prestigous awards in the world, the S. Pellegrino Worlds 50 Best Restaurants is compiled by the Nespresso Worlds 50 Best Restaurants Academy.

According to their official website, the academy divides the world into regions, with a chairperson in each region appointed for their  knowledge of their part of the restaurant world, with a total of 3410 votes cast. The chairperson for Southern Africa is the celebrated local author and connoisseur, Lanice Snyman.

This year The Tasting Room is in the 50th position and also received an accolade for best restaurant in Africa and the Middle East.

On the academys website, the official entry for The Tasting Room quotes Eat Out magazine in saying, If theres a special something behind the success of this gem, it must be sheer, unadulterated love. Margot Janse delights with sense-dazzling dishes that taste less conceptual than they appear on paper.

Ferran Adriàs El Bulli in Spain is in first position for the third consecutive year.
