If you’re a fan of 96 Winery Road you’ll love their new degustation menu that showcases mouthful portions of the restaurant’s most popular dishes since opening in 1996.
The degustation menu also pays tribute to its co-founders, winemakers Ken Forrester and Martin Meinert, by matching one of their prized wines with each of the portions.
“This new menu offers a nostalgic journey of what we perceive is the full monty of 96 Winery Road classics,” says Ken.
On the menu (R350 or R250 per person with or without matching wine options) are baby beetroot salad with dukha goats cheese, spiced pecan nuts and honey, pictured left (paired with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc); a wild mushroom tarte tatin (with the Petit Chenin Blanc); spicy calamari (with the latest vintage Chenin Blank); marinated quail (paired with the Shiraz Grenache 2004); and the old-time favourite ‘Hollandse’ pepper fillet (served with a Devon Crest 2004 Bordeaux blend). The culinary journey is rounded off with crème brulée, complemented with the award-winning ‘T’ Noble Late Harvest 2007.
The culinary hotspot triumphed in the 2008 Eat Out People’s Choice Awards, with listings in the Top 10 Steak House, Top 10 Local Favourites, Top 10 Country and Winelands, and overall Fab 15 categories. What better recommendation could you ask for?
