George Jardine opens new restaurant

Acclaimed Cape Town chef, George Jardine (Eat Out Chef of the Year 2006 and 2007), of Jardine restaurant will join forces with winemakers Gary and Kathy Jordan to open a new restaurant on the Jordan Wine estate in Stellenbosch.

The new restaurant, which will be called The Restaurant at Jordan, will be located next to the estate’s tasting room in a former tobacco curing house.

The menu will focus on local and seasonal ingredients sourced from South Africa’s best suppliers and producers such as The Magic Man, Buffalo Ridge Mozzerella, Kimililli Pigs and Wild Peacock. A selection of the finest seasonal South African cheeses will also be available in a walk-in cheese room.

According to George, “The estate has an absolutely stunning setting, and [it] is the perfect place for Louise and me to personally attend to our guests, to pamper their palates and de-stress their minds.

We have built in a huge wood-fired oven and custom-built chargrill which will allow us to cook with different wood and vine coals and create some memorable dishes. This will be a fantastic experience for our customers, where they can experience the highest levels of cuisine and service matched to some truly great wines.
