Celebrated chef George Jardine of Cape Town restaurant Jardine and lauded winemakers Gary and Kathy Jordan have decided to combine their talents and open a restaurant on the grounds of the Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. Set to open in December, the 80-seater Restaurant at Jordan will be housed in the estates former tobacco-curing house, and will sport a patio from which diners can take in the stunning surrounds. George Jardines contemporary menu will rely heavily on locally sourced food, and the restaurant will even boast a walk-in cheese room featuring the wares of award-winning producers such as Kimilili and Buffalo Ridge. Added frills will include a huge wood-fired oven and custom-built char grill. Complementing the fine food will be a host of Gary and Kathys best vintages, wines from neighbouring Stellenbosch wineries, as well as a selection of imported Bordeaux and Burgundies.
