Yet another jewel is sparkling in Camps Bays crown. A multi-million rand fine-dining restaurant and cocktail bar, Pepper Club on the Beach, has opened its doors just in time for the silly season. Taking pride of place on the Camps Bay Promenade, this stylish spot is a satellite of the R400-million five-star luxury hotel, Pepper Club, which is set to open its doors in the inner city in February 2010. Michelin-star awarded Carsten Kocke has been appointed group executive chef, and has created a South African-inspired menu that will feature the likes of crispy Boland duck with cherry sauce and Parmesan-encrusted veal scallops. Those wanting a bona fide alfresco experience can order a basket of gastronomic goodies and enjoy them on the beach. Once the hotel has been completed, guests of the Pepper Club will be shuttled between the City Bowl and Camps Bay at regular intervals.
