Although it’s still a relatively new kid on the Cape Town coffee block, Cookshop has made its mark. Situated on Hatfield Street, opposite Cape Town High School, this little spot has a lot to offer.
Open for breakfast and lunch, Cookshop offers a selection of hearty and wholesome fare. While this is standard issue for most great spots, there is a little something special about Cookshop that’s needs to be mentioned – their secret homemade mayo recipes! Yes, that’s right, mayo. Without exaggerating, this stuff is so delicious you’ll want to take it home with you, which you can. They use it mainly for their gourmet sandwiches. Think free-range roast chicken, cucumber and rocket on rye or ciabatta topped off with coriander-chili mayo. Hungry yet?
The balsamic onion marmalade is another delight that will be in your fridge sooner than you think. They also do a daily buffet lunch of salads and bakes and you can expect some tasty soups, as the weather grows cooler. Check out their menu board here.
They get their coffee from the guys over at Deluxe, and as expected, it’s amazing. You can also buy their beans here. Every Tuesday they have a mini organic market where you can buy fresh seasonal organic produce.
Sadly, Cookshop is not open on weekends but they have the occasional breakfast club on a Sunday or Public Holiday.
