More than just Thai

Suan Thai is a fabulous little suburban Thai eatery that serves one of the best tom yum goong soups in Jozi.

On Thursday nights there’s live music, including the likes of renowned Afrikaans musician Gert Bekker, who plays a mean acoustic guitar.

From 1 September, Suan Thai will be open from Monday to Saturday instead of Tuesday to Sunday. To alleviate the Monday blues, the restaurant will be offering a special: a delicious red or green chicken curry with rice for only R55.

Owner Bradley Tyack has recently introduced a South African twist to his menu, including Afro-Thai specialties such as springbok and bamboo green curry with lemongrass and coriander, and soon he’ll be adding a tasty Thai ostrich stir-fry to his exotic repertoire.

Suan Thai will also soon become home to a fabulous little noodle bar. From September 1, patrons can pop in for a healthy and affordable light lunch.
