Mangiare is truffle-tastic

From 21 August, Somerset West's Capelands Estate restaurant, Mangiare, will be offering diners a special menu starring summer truffles from Piedmont in Italy.

To kick things off, there will be a choice between beef carpaccio with Parmesan cheese and truffle, or potato soup with truffle. Pasta options will include the likes of potato gnocchi with cheese sauce and truffle, taglierini with egg and truffle, or ravioli with truffle.

Mains see the hallowed fungi paired with sliced, aged beef and mushrooms, or fresh kingklip with spinach and shitake mushrooms.

The special truffle menu runs from Thursday to Sunday, lunch and dinner, and costs R350 for three courses, R420 for four and R490 for five. For more information, call 021 858 1477.
