My week of fishing and judging

I managed to get away to the Garden Route for a few days last week. It rained most of the time, but that was no excuse not to head straight to Keurboomstrand for a delicious piece of fish. It was cooked really well and very fresh; pan-seared, drizzled with lemon butter, and served with a pile of the best chips ever. It didn’t just taste good though; I could eat it with a clear conscience because it is on SASSI’s green list, which means that its stocks are well-managed and aren’t over-fished. We should all remember to eat the right fish, and to help you do this we have included the new SASSI guide in our seafood digimag, which we launch today.

On another exciting note, today I, with the other Eat Out judges, will do the final judging for the Eat Out Awards. We’ll choose the 20 nominees who will be in line to appear on that coveted list – the top 10 restaurants in South Africa. So knives and forks down please, plates clean, the judging will soon be completed and the results will be shared with you tomorrow.

Happy eating!
Abigail
