Written by the late Lannice Snyman, this book is a celebration of the regions of South Africa and her journey takes you through the culture, history and traditional food of our country with a few twists here and there.

With Tortoises and Tumbleweeds you can start your day with eggs in tomatoes, move onto fish frikkadels with rougail ( finely chopped ‘salsa’ of spring onions, tomatoes and coriander, lime juice and olive oil) and perhaps end with a fabulously indulgent Cape crème brulee.

Lannice included such traditional delights as smoorvis, bobotie, koesisters, Cape brandy and malva puddings and an array of sambals and each proving that local really is lekker!
