La Cantina restaurant at Fancourt, the Garden Route’s famous golf estate, has undergone a facelift and emerged with a new menu and an Italian chef at the helm. Born in Milan, 35-year-old Matteo Silberti arrived in South Africa in 2010 and brings an authentic Italian flair to La Cantina.
La Cantina’s new dinner menu reflects the richness, flavours and vibrancy of Italy. Matteo’s food is classically Italian, with a welcome twist on many familiar Mediterranean dishes. His focus is on food that is fresh, healthy (low-fat, low cholesterol and incoporating natural ingredients) and flavourful. La Cantina’s dinner menu offers a large choice of contemporary Italian and traditional dishes. Guests seeking an authentic experience begin their meal with a visit to the antipasti table, where a selection of Italian cheeses and cold meats, polenta cheese fondue, fresh vegetables and bruschetta will be are available. Signature main meals reflect Matteo’s love for raw ingredients and include a raw beef, almond and radicchio salad, and raw tuna with Pachino tomatoes and ginger.
La Cantina offers seating inside, outside and in a private dining room. Kiddies can look forward to making their own pizzas at the unique pizza counter. A full buffet breakfast is also on offer daily.
