Some offices have pool tables and dartboards – in our office there’s a trusty 30 Seconds board – but in restaurant kitchens it seems appropriate that the competition be culinary in nature. The chefs of the Madame Zingara group, which comprises Bombay Bicycle Club, Café Paradiso, Café Mozart and the Sidewalk Café, are currently going head to head in a heated cook-off.

Taking over The Sidewalk Cafe in Vredehoek the chefs each design their own menu, serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes for a week each, after which the patrons are invited to vote.

If you’d like to catch the remaining chefs in action, tomorrow will mark the beginning of the reign of one of Café Paradiso’s chef’s, Chris Ditch’s, closely followed by colleague Michelle Tamas and finally, Café Paradiso’s executive chef, Heinrich Koen, from the 8th to the 14th July.
