Established in 2000, River Bend Lodge set out to follow a standard of cuisine not normally associated with the South African game lodge experience. “Excellent, contemporary and world class” were established as the benchmarks for culinary offerings at River Bend. Silver Thorns Restaurant is open to the public for lunch and dinner and is currently being headed up by Head Chef, Kelly Ligget. Kelly joined from The Cellars Hohenhort in Constantia, Cape Town, after having had previous experience internationally in the USA and London. He has spent significant time working with the menu with considerable care and thought, stamping the Silver Thorns Restaurant with his very own clean, contemporary fusion style of food preparation and presentation.
