Heading to Green Point stadium in CT or Soccer City in Soweto for the Kings of Leon concert this week? Traffic can be a nightmare, so we recommend heading into town early, and stopping off before the show for a bite to eat. Here are some of our suggestions of restaurants near the stadiums:
Cape Town
There are plenty of options on buzzing Somerset Road, and a couple of spots just off the beaten track on side streets. Here are some of our picks:
Anatoli will be open from 6pm onwards, serving tasty Turkish meze
Beefcakes – unashamedly camp burgers. On Wednesday, there’ll be a special Kings of Leon menu.
Beluga – slick sushi and dim sum
El Burro – Mexican
Fireman’s Arms – hearty pub fare
Hudsons – gourmet burgers
Il Leone Mastrantonio – authentic Italian fare
Toro Wine Bar – tasty antipasti
Truth – the coffee shop will be open, and they’ll also be serving boerie rolls outside on the fan walk
Soweto
You may have to hop in the car to reach some of these restaurants, so head out early to make it in time for the first song.
Back of the moon – stylish dining in an old Sophia Town shebeen
Gramadoelas – old Cape comfort food
The Guildhall – Pub fare
