Tuesday to Sunday 11am to 2.30pm
At the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, we live by the season. We serve fresh produce that grows in our own garden as the seasons dictate. As a result, we offer an organic dining experience, set in a relaxed country atmosphere. Here fresh food, complementing our boutique wines, is prepared to order and enjoyed at leisure. The seasons also determine the mood at this Elim restaurant: the refreshing sea breeze will cool you down in summer, or enjoy our cozy log fires in the winter months.
The Black Oystercatcher Restaurant is situated on a wine farm in the Elim wine ward. The restaurant is close to the quaint missionary town of Elim and the small town of Bredasdorp at South Africa’s southern-most tip. The setting is ideal, looking out over the wetlands that form part of conserved Nuwejaars Wetland Protected Environment, and across to the rare fynbos on the Soetmuisberg mountains. The view is complete with our infinity pool situated next to the dining area.
The Black Oystercatcher Restaurant offers visitors some insight into the rich history of the Agulhas Plain. The building is more than a hundred years old, and has through the century served as a dairy parlour, stables for horses, while even housing ostriches at one stage. It was converted into the restaurant in 2008. Aside from the dining facilities, wine tastings are also held here.
