Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate, Franschhoek, will once again host its ever-popular educational Harvest Festival on Saturday 25 February 2012 starting at 9am. Created for the entire family, the day affords one and all the opportunity to learn and experience the world of wine first hand by celebrated winemaker Jaco Marais.
The day starts at 9am with tea, coffee, fresh muffins and other pastries prepared by executive chef Darren Roberts, followed by a tractor ride to the vineyard for grape picking the traditional way. This is followed by a tour of the wine cellar and a wine tasting with Jaco – a true behind-the-scenes look at the secrets of the cellar.
Then comes the fun part: stomping the grapes in the barrels the old fashioned way! Guests then move into the manicured garden under the old oak tree for a scrumptious braai feast, accompanied by live musical entertainment and a host of games. Enjoy, relax and enjoy the day.
Cost for the day, excluding drinks, is R290 per adult and R130 for children under 12. Included in the price is a bottle of Angel's Tears wine per adult, which can be collected upon departure. The Harvest Festival is also excellent as a team-building activity; special rates are available for groups of 10 guests or more.
