Oasis in busy Fourways! Look, I've been hearing about Picolinos for years! Our friends raved over their pizzas. And quite a while back I made a point of driving in there ... looked around, but I'm positive I looked at the wrong place. It didn't grab me at all.
Yesterday Hein said I must meet him there for lunch ... I thought, uggh. I walked in and was absolutely shocked! What is this lovely rusty and peaceful place? I didn't recognise it from my previous visit, so I definitely went to the wrong place. We sat next to the dam, watched a floating crocodile head and a duck in the water.
Place is big, there's tv's for sport and a fireplace for colder days. Trees are all around and chickens & cats stroll in-between the benches. There's a nail salon and a small shop filled with clothes, jewellery and hats. Worth checking out.
Service is good and managers are on site.
We decided to share a pizza (and boy, the pizzas are huge! I think they're about 45 cm in diameter!) but looking at the menu, we decided on a Burger Pie Calzone. It took quite a while, cause the patties were still frozen, but when it arrived ... wow, it was big!!! For R85 to share, very reasonable.
Really tasty, filled with gooey cheese, the patties and tomato relish. The hot sauces on the side are really yummy too!
It was a lovely experience and I really soaked in the peaceful atmosphere. Will definitely be back.
