Owner's description

out story… For me, most of life begins and ends with the sharing and celebration of food. I am an Afro-Boer. An African Traveller is who I am, and what I love doing. The name describes all that I grew up to become - my soul a traveling boeremeisie with my heart in Africa Motherland. I have European roots, some traditional sentiments, an Afrikaans Heritage, a love for the African continent: including all its colors, flavors, eccentricities, combinations, cultures, music, arts, writers, composers foodies, locals…. and a somewhat French temperament! The feel of our cafés are very uniquely non-traditional, but most certainly encourages the wearing of a “Kakiebos" T-shirt whilst walking over a Nguni-cowskin, soulfully humming along to Ladysmith Black Mambazo jiving in the background… This is a place where you can revere over verses once written by Uys Krige, and reminisce over Bobotie in a blikbord and what Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika truly means as God blesses Africa. This we want to share with the people around us. This we want our guests to remember, as if they are sitting at their own family kitchen tables whilst food is slowly and lovingly prepared by hand. All of this we combine in our eateries - aiming to set a slower pace, an experience with meaning… with reminders of roots, and some celebration! My stories with food start early in the morning and ends when the music hushes and the moonlight shimmers over the hanging glassware. May your wanderings take a piece of our story on your journey, protea firmly in the hair. Michelle

One of my favorite places to have lunch with friends or family (including family from overseas) never have a bad thing to say about Afro-boer's food or service, always fantastic
    Good food and beautiful surroundings!
This is a restaurant with the best food and vibe around. You sit in the city but feel like you are surrounded by nature. All the food is excellent but the cake is THE BEST treat. Great for time with family or friends. Oh and always great service. Highly recommend!
