I visited this restaurant 3weeks ago for the 1st time, I was amazed, I don't eat out much because of bad service but this restaurant has changed that, as soon as I walked in a was greeted by a pleasant waiter that took us to our table.. We ordered our drinks and no lie it took less then 3mins to come, we browsed the menu and decided on our meal, before our 1st drink was done our meal was on our table steaming hot, I tell u I have never eaten a steak so soft and tender, it literally melted when I cut through it, and melted in my mouth, our waiter was in top of it he made sure we had everything we needed and came to offer our next drink before we even finished it, I found that amazing, for the 1st time I didn't have to look for our waiter, he was there ready to serve with a smile on his face, he befriended my kids and cracked jokes with them, even my son said this was the best place we have ever eaten from, he says the waiter made him feel so happy and comfortable, for the 1st time I felt my waiter needed a 50% tip, it was the best tip I have ever given because I was 100% satisfied with the service... I have been back to the restaurant 3 times since then and the service is still off top standards, I'd recommend this place 1000 times over.. I thought we got lucky the 1st time with such a great waiter but to my surprise every waiter we have had has given us the best service.... My absolute favorite restaurant of all time

This is the best restaurant on the westrand. Excellenct service from all from the time you walk in until you walk out. Food is great and good value for money Simply the best thanks to Steve and Morris

ATTENTION: Avoid the Porterhouse restaurant like the plague! On the spur of the moment, me and my dearly beloved decided to treat ourselves, and to go to a restaurant. I saw the name "Porterhouse" in Ontdekkers road Roodepoort, and in memory of the famous Porterhouse restaurant in Hillbrow in the early 80's, where I spend many a happy night, we decided to give this one a try. BIG MISTAKE! The waitress was friendly and efficient, and the beer she served me was cold, but that is the only positive I can state about the entire experience, the rest is a horror story. My dearly beloved's fillet was tough and chewy. According to her it didn't taste too bad, but it was must definitely not fillet. Some cheap cut drowned in some sauce to ensure you couldn't identify it, yet charged at the exorbitant price of fillet. I ordered an Eisbein. It arrived swimming in an unidentifiable greasy oily substance in my plate. It was way over cooked, tough and dry like a piece of well tanned leather with oil/grease pouring out of every crack and crevice. It was one solid mass of solidified pig, because it was left in a deep fried far too long. There was hardly any edible meat on the bone, and the little I could tear off was absolutely gross, and tasted like old overused cooking oil. Positively nauseating. Most of it was so hard, you'll need a chainsaw to make any impression on it, not a steak knife. We informed the manager, and all he could offer as an excuse was, "Ja, you should rather come and try us over the weekend, but I will look into it!" With that he disappeared, never to be seen again. Well, f.... you dude, you will never see me again. Why couldn't you serve me a decent meal tonight? It is still the same money I pay, not bargain basement discount night? If you ever feel like going out, for all thing holy, avoid the "Porterhouse" on Ontdekkers. It was by far, without any doubt, the worst meal ever served to me, and that includes the army slop I was fed as a young troopie, as well as the despicable creations I slapped together in my bachelor days. The Porterhouse is a disgusting pit! The fact that they are still in business serving such shit, is beyond comprehension. Their food is not fit for human consumption. In fact, I won't even feed it to my dog, I love our old smelly Spaniel too much to put her through such horror!

The establishment is very racist and they treated us as if we were there to beg for a meal; I will never spend another cent of my money at that place ever again. Money has no color and if restaurants are unable to treat all patrons equally then they do not deserve to have my money.
