The October edition of Col’Cacchio pizzeria’s Celebrity Chef Series features chef Jodi-Ann Pearton’s ‘Basil McBeefy’ pizza.
The occasion is part of Col’Cacchio’s now well-known annual charity drive and marks a return to the campaign’s roots: this chef and founder of the The Food Design Agency in Johannesburg first took part in the gourmet charity challenge in 2010.
Jodi-Ann’s pizza is inspired by memories of her father, Basil, preparing slow-braised beef short ribs for the family on weekends – “the most amazing comfort food, and the spark that ignited my passion for food,” says Jodi.
Topped with beef short rib slow-cooked in red wine and accompanied by veggies, herbs, mozzarella, red chilli and crispy basil leaves, the Basil McBeefy (R110) is available at all Col’Cacchio pizzeria stores across the country for the month of October. R5 from every pizza sold will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust to fund a paediatric rehabilitation programme at St Joseph’s Home for chronically ill children.
