I can safely say a restaurant that always provides a five star service. From the time you enter the restaurant with a smile to the fabulous presentation of the food. A restaurant I will always recommend and will never be disappointed.

This branch of the Raj chain has to be be the biggest cheats of the lot. We were served bad prawns which had reached a pulp consistency and were returned for replacement as a takeaway as we were done eating. To our surprise we found the same batch packed when opened the next. On another occasion chana masala was served straight from a can and thickened with a bland tasteless sauce which cannot be called Indian. We have not found fault with other branches.

As a frequent patron of the Raj restaurant, I am disgusted at the service this evening (Monday) and the atittude of the manager as he asked us to "control" our kids as they being a nuisance which were not making a noise or disturbing the 2 other tables of 1 patron and 2 patrons who were not even perurbed in the atleast! The restaurant was empty and all my 18 month old was doing was walking up and down the corridor with his bottle in his mouth!!! The starters took forever and the naan was burnt, seconds after the manager spoke us I asked for bill and we left immediately paying for a main course that we didnt even get to eat!!!! No wonder this restaurant is always empty this is not the first incident of them treating customers in this manner!!! Witnessed simialr behaviour towards other patrons on a few occasions!!! If they do not want kids they should have a sign saying no under 18's allowed!!! Will never return there with or without my kids!!!

The curry at this restaurant is absolutely not fit for human consumption! I ordered two separate lamb curries and stressed that I wanted mild - both were so hot and overspiced that my mouth was raw from the few mouthfuls I managed to eat. So please people; be warned!

This Indian Restaurant has finally lost touch with its senses. After having battled for what seems the longest time to attract customers to its less then well placed restaurant, they are now turning away regulars because of Dress Code? The restaurant buried in the bowels of Sandton City has always produced great Indian food. However on a recent visit we were advised we would not be able to sit outside in the walkway due to their Smart Casual dress code. We did not arrive in slops and strops, the offending outfit included a pair of shin lenght Italian white linen shorts, Ralph Lauren sandles and a smart t-shirt. However, and this is where they added insult to injury, we were advised we would be able to sit at the back of the restaurant. Perchance out of sight of there real clients?? Strange how our money was good enough when we were hidden out of sight. Once a week I have eaten at this restaurant in smart work wear and have never had a problem, and I have eaten here on a few of my weekends and this issue of shorts has never been a problem. The food is usually good, and the service normally passable. This is not the ecomoic climate to be chasing cash paying clients away, especially when the restaurant. Someone needs to step in here because I would hate to loose one of my favourite Indian haunts. The only good thing that came of this was the rediscovery of Bukhara upstairs, taken as begrudged second choice the meal turned out to be fantastic and we are happy to have found restaurant that welcomes those in shorts.... with open arms and awesome tandoori.
