Situated on the Northern slope of Table Mountain and nestled behind the famous Rhodes Memorial, lies this unique destination restaurant and tea garden. This vantage point not only allows a panoramic view of the Cape Flats to the Helderberg and Hottentots Holland Mountain ranges but is one of the few vantage points where both the Atlantic and Indian oceans can be seen.
Bernard and Jessica Lyon, the new proprietors, and formerly from La Med, Clifton and the Baxter Restaurant, together boast a total of 85 yrs hospitality experience. They invite you to join them for a memorable experience, feeding mind, body and soul in this idyllic setting.
Their family restaurant caters for locals and tourists alike, offering a variety of cuisine to suit all tastes, offering special rates for children under 10 years of age. This charming cottage restaurant has recently been renovated and the gardens landscaped to include a playground with swings, slides, jungle gym and a kiddies sand pit.
The menu changes seasonally with a strong al fresco influence in the summer. Winter boasts a roaring log fire, Gluhwein and wholesome specialities such as Ostrich Bobotie, Cape Malay style curries and Lamb Bredies, prepared with only the freshest of ingredients. The on-site home-style bakery is renowned for delicious cakes and desserts.
There is ample free and secure parking and several mountain walks start or finish here.
Sorely dissapointed. Boring menu, expensive for daytime, only 2 tables on a spring day, should be full with their stunning position, saddens me that Cape Town allows a tourist destination to offer anything but greatness.
