Having been impressed by the calamari salad a few weeks back at a business lunch, my husband decided to take me and our son for lunch at NV-80. Staff were welcoming. A table at the window afforded us a pleasant view of buildings across the road, some mountainscape and sky. My husband ordered the Calamari Salad and the Fillet Steak Roll, my son a 500g Ribeye steak, and I had the Queen Prawns with a veg side. When we eat out, my family always tastes each other’s meals. The calamari was perfectly cooked, but my husband would have liked more greens in the salad. Neither he nor I enjoyed the flavor of the steak in the Fillet Steak Roll. The spices overpowered the flavor of the meat. The roll itself was decent. My son had his ribeye straight, no sauce, and was happy with his meal. My prawns were meaty and beautifully cooked. It would have been much more lipsmacking with plain old garlic butter, but that wasn’t an option on the menu. I chose the Traditional Sauce, which was pleasant enough. The veg sides were nicely cooked. The chips that accompanied the other meals were really enjoyable: crisp yumminess on the outside, melt-in-the-mouth inside. The waiter was attentive throughout the meal. The interior of the restaurant was pleasant. Being able to park in the parking garage below, makes access to the restaurant very easy, and with Checkers downstairs, and Banks Boutique upstairs, we spent extra time shopping in the Centre. NV-80 got most things right, and we would be happy to return and try other menu items.

Tucked away on the 1st Floor of the busy Point Shopping Centre in Sea Point, NV80 offers a number of reasonably priced lunch options. Most sensational of the lot is undoubtedly their incredible burger. The patty is 200g of chopped steak on a crispy seeded bun. Meat can be ordered to taste, and you get a juicy, tender whopper of a patty with that gorgeous charcoal steakhouse taste. But the delights keep coming - the best crispy fried onion rings you've ever tasted come standard along with a mound of beautifully fried chips, tender on the inside and crunchy on the outer. Add to that a small side of salad and you have heaven on a plate for less than a hundred bucks !!!! And best of all, it has to be the most consistently good restaurant imaginable...I work in the offices upstairs and the 50 or so burgers I've consumed there have never scored less than a perfect 10 !

We visited this restaurant during August for lunch as we had a few errands to run in it’s vicinity. This was by no means our first visit. In fact the lovely floor manager advised us that we have been dining there for about 4 years (since it first opened). Why do we keep going back? Well, their high standard of food and service has been just so consistent. This is our go to place when we want a guaranteed great meal and service to match. The menu hasn’t changed - why fix something if it isn’t broken? Definitely give these guys a visit - you will not be disappointed.

You would not imagine that a restaurant in a Shopping Centre could become a destination restaurant but NV80 is just that! We thoroughly enjoy dining at NV80 and for us it's a date night as the cocktail barman muddles a perfect mojito and the seafood and steaks are just outstanding. My personal favorite is to have two starters - the sautéed prawns with garlic, chilli and caper berries and the beef fillet Trinchado and my husband says the lamb rump is simply the best! What we like is that - if it's too hot, too windy, rainy or cold you can park at The Point Centre in Sea Point underground and just pop up on the first floor to NV80.

The 1 star service rating is for our wonderful waiter...otherwise the restaurant deserves ZERO. My friend made a reservation for three people last night(Tuesday 08 August) at 7:30pm. One person arrived around 7:25pm and was asked by the hostess to take a seat on the sofa in front of the hostess desk, since she was the first to arrive. She asked whether or not the table was ready, to which she received the answer that because she was the first, and only one there, they will only seat her when the rest of the party arrives. Then I arrived around 7:35pm, shocked to see my friend waiting like a child in a naughty corner, she tells me she has been told to wait until all 3 people are there. A guy(we assume to be the manager) approaches us and asks if we've been assisted yet. My friend annoyingly indicated that the hostess asked her to wait on the sofa until our full party arrives before she could seat us. To which he responds, I'll sort it out. He then has a word with the hostess. Informs us that we will need to wait, and without giving us a chance to rebuke assists patrons who walked through the door at that moment. He then disappears and I am now growing increasingly annoyed (and hungry). He makes an appearance 10 mins later and when I approach the hostess desk where he is standing to find out what is going on (because by now I was quite sure they did not have a table ready for us and giving us stories). He then smugly says, actually I was just coming to inform you that your table is ready (really? when? I approached YOU at the desk, you didn't walk over to tell me this!) So as we're being lead to the table, we then state that the issue was not really that we were not all there yet, but rather that the table was not ready. He then denies this and states that we need to be more understanding, they are fully booked (we have a booking too) and can only seat us when the full table had arrived! Never in my life have I heard of such ridiculousness. Clearly we were not happy, and whom we assume to be the owner then approaches our table to find out what the issue is. We explained, to which he basically responds, 'well are you happy now? You have your table now...?' Turns out mr obnoxious manager was actually mr owner's son... We should've left... the food was over cooked and below subpar. All that drama was not worth it. Will never return. And will never ever have a good thing to say about this place
