We stayed over at The Blades on 17 Oct 2015 as we had a wedding down the road. We arrived for lunch, and sat on the deck next to the river to enjoy the view, and waited about 30mins for a waiter. Eventually we had to go find one that would be willing to help us. He then told us that we cant sit on the deck, as it has been booked out by another party. Even though they were more than willing to accept our R3000 for the room for the night, we were now unable to enjoy the facilities. We left it there as we didnt want to cause a scene and went to sit inside. Long story short, the lunch service was terrible. When we got to our room, the toilet couldnt flush. The bridespair's room (Executive suite) where the bride got ready for the wedding, was not cleaned, and they got back to a honeymoon suite filled with plates and dirty and messy. The next morning the breakfast service was also a complete disaster where NOTHING was organised. We ended up having to eat cold breakfast. We then found foreign objects in the eggs, and at this point complained to the manager. He told us that whatever black plastic we found in the eggs it is not harmful or dangerous, so its not a problem. He also had an attitude of "too bad" about all the other complaints.
How The Blades got a 4 star rating is beyond me, please be warned not to go anywhere near this place, as you will have a much better experience under a tree in the bush for a lot cheaper.
