We ate there last night and had a horrible experience, not only was our waiter one of the most unattentive waiters I have ever had the misfortune to meet, the manager was also very unwilling to assist when my husband complained about his meal. His steak tasted as if they had injected a 9kg bottle of LP gas into it and left it to marinate in that mix overnight. When he asked politely that they take it away, the manager came back from the kitchen saying that the chef had tasted it and there was notihng wrong with his steak and they were willing to bring his plate back and give him a cappuccino. He told her that it was fine, he would not be eating that steak. She left and still added it to our bill. My husband never complains about food, and I can honestly say that out of the four steaks at the table his really had a different taste. I will not be going back, apparently this is just another South African restaurant where the customer is not right and definitely not appreciated!

We had breakfast there yesterday and what an absolute disappointment! The food was cold and the staff not really willing to help! Management also gave the impression that they do not care at all. The place will not see me ever again and I will spread the word about the place and the poor food and service! The place has got huge potential but definitely lacks the personal touch, caring and warmth for clients!

The review of Pappas in our Eat Out magazine sounded great and so my wife, small son and I decided to have lunch there after visiting an Orchid Show in Pretoria (were from Jhb). After standing around for several minutes feeling a little ignored, a waitress approached us and asked if wed been served. I replied no and then after looking us up and down rather disdainfully like we were something that cat had dragged in, she said I will call the manager. Huh?! I asked what the problem was - we have a big backlog was her response. There were certainly tables available, but even if the restaurant was a little busy, why not just explain that, why call the manager. Unfortunately despite the good review and the decor which was interesting, Pappas has been crossed off my list forever.
