About Us
About us
At Eat Out we are all about food. We love eating at restaurants, eating at home, eating at markets… pretty much eating anywhere possible. Plus we love shopping for food, foraging for ingredients, cooking and talking about it. And we are dedicated to sharing the love and bringing you credible news, reviews and information on a variety of platforms.
Remember eat-in.co.za a magazine called Eat In? Those are our little sisters, who now form part of the Eat Out brand. This merger gives us the opportunity to talk about all aspects of food all the time – on any platform we choose.
On our website you’ll find listings for over 3 000 restaurants, over 1 000 speciality food stores and markets, recipes, ‘best of’ guides (of everything from macaroons to steakhouses), and all the hot news from the restaurant and food industry.
Every year in November we publish South Africa’s ultimate restaurant directory, a glossy magazine listing over 1000 of the country’s top restaurants. The Eat Out magazine launches at our annual Eat Out Restaurant Awards – South Africa’s food Oscars – where we announce the Top 10 restaurants in South Africa, along with the best eateries in a host of other categories.
In March, small producers, stores and markets take the stage with the Eat Out Small Producer Awards. Previously known as the Eat In Produce Awards, these awards aim to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding, independent South African producers for their integrity, passion and innovation. To make sure you stay in the food loop, sign up for our weekly e-newsletter, download our iPhone application, or follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest. We’re cooking up a few other interesting projects, so watch this stove…uh… space!
Our editorial policy
Independence and integrity are very important to us. Everything featured on our website, or in our magazine, newsletters and other products, is selected by our editorial team and network of trusted contributors around the country. We bite, sip and swallow with gusto – and pay our own bills.
Now and then we send e-mails from one of our carefully selected partners to those who have agreed to receive them. The content of these e-mails is paid for by our partners and does not reflect the opinions of Eat Out.
Calling all restaurants!
Have you opened up a new space? Or made changes to your existing one? We list non-chain restaurants at the discretion of our editor, and do not charge for listings. Email us at info@eatout.co.za and tell us all about your restaurant.
