Eating out should be a treat. Especially when it costs so much. Our experience last night (8th April, 2014) at The Grand in Camps Bay was not only a dismal eating experience but a demonstration of bad management and waiter inadequacy. Drinks were late in arriving, one main dish was clearly off, there was no salt and pepper, a second round of drinks (ordered before the meal arrived) arrived after the meal... and so continues the sloppiness. But the worst was the manager and the waiter. Apologetic in a condescending manner did not sit comfortably with us. Compensation for rotten fish should be no charge, not a free cheese cake. Despite this, we tipped the waiter. Herein lies the conundrum that led me to write this post and wish that there was less guilt attached to the way we accept sloppy service.Notifications
