Parliament pub and grill serves some of the tastiest dishes in and around Parkmore, says Eat Out critic Mokgadi Itsweng.
Parliament pub and grill serves some of the tastiest dishes in and around Parkmore. The menu is small but boasts delicious items like braised brisket with onion jam and tapas-type meals to share. Try the deep fried pap balls with chakalaka, the shredded pork shoulder slides or the spicy chicken wings for a light yet filling meal. Most of the meals are served with delicious sides like their famous beef-fat fries, their low-carb zucchini noodles or fire-roasted vegetables. The dessert menu is also neat, with interesting items like smoked crème brulée and their daily surprise flavour of homemade ice cream.
An adequate wine selection comprises mostly local wines, all of them available by the glass. They also offer a wide range of local and international craft beers, cocktails and champagne.
Friendly and efficient. The waiters give great advice and recommendations on the menu items.
The ambience is relaxed and informal, with beautiful music, curated by Ben Vorster and Ty Arendse, playing in the background. The décor is minimalistic with masculine elements. Bare brick walls, exposed beams, a concrete bar counter and steel staircase create an industrial and functional feel.
The open kitchen brings much-needed warmth to the space and pulls you into the magic being created in the kitchen.
