Food

La Rosa is a Mexican restaurant with a buzzing vibe that’ll make for a fun time out. The menu has a wide variety of scrumptious offerings, from more familiar combinations to innovative pairings. Everything is fresh and flavourful, with great textures.

The starters are great for sharing and there are several options for those who like some spicy heat, such as the jalapeno croqueta or a bowl of chilli dipper. For mains, you might stick to Mexican favourites such as burritos, quesadillas and tacos. Among those, you’ll find a variety of interesting fillings such as the El Cangrejo tacos, which include deep-fried softshell crab. If you want something a little lighter, tazones are burrito bowls with fillings including sesame fried chicken strips with green rice. For the adventurous (or particular) diner, there is also an option to build your own burrito or burrito bowl.

If you have room for dessert, the warm and delectable churros, served with chocolate or caramel sauce, are sure to hit the spot. For those wanting something innovative, try the churro milkshake or El Hefe’s Dom Pedro, which includes a shot of tequila.

Drinks

The fact that La Rosa calls itself a tequileria tells you that there are some great drink options. The long and intriguing cocktail menu includes Mexican staples like Palomas and various margaritas (try the pineapple jalapeno version for something with a zesty kick!).

There’s also a satisfying list of wines and cervezas (beers), but if you’re up for a fun gin and tonic, you can choose your own mix from a variety of options.

The definite highlight, unsurprisingly, is the extensive and fascinating tequila offering, which are all 100% agave tequila imported from Mexico. A notable and wonderful exception is the list of local Leonista tequilas, made in the Karoo using traditional Mexican methods. For something exotic, there is a list of tequilas that are flavoured with flavours such as roasted marshmallow and strawberry mint.

Service

The service at La Rosa is as upbeat and as fun as the food and atmosphere, with friendly servers who are happy to help you navigate the menu and have a great time.

Ambience

The food is full of bright and interesting colours, and so is the restaurant! There is a variety of different seating areas to choose from, such as at  the bar upstairs, perfect for people-watching, or outside on the wraparound verandah. Mexican touches like bright patterns and sombreros will welcome you at every turn and make it a fun space to be in.
