SA’s only branch of Jamie’s Italian (for now), situated at Melrose Arch in Johannesburg, is celebrating all things pizza this March. Every week this month, chef Jamie Oliver’s Italian-themed restaurant will serve a unique pizza that’s not usually on the menu. The selection will showcase oven-baked bases with big flavours and combinations of fresh ingredients that will be available for one week only.
The new special starts every Wednesday for the course of March. Guests can look forward to the Beef Shin pizza (R110) from now until Tuesday 7 March; the Summer Garden pizza (R100) from 8–14 March; the Low & Slow Lamb pizza (R110) from 15–21 March; and the Sunny Margherita pizza (R100) from 22–31 March. If you don’t manage to get a booking before the month is over, you can still enjoy the Juliette pizza and the Chili Freak pizza on the regular menu.
Each pizza is freshly made by hand on the premises, and toppings are sourced in line with Jamie’s ethos of using fresh ingredients, looking after animal welfare and sustainability through partnerships with artisanal producers both locally and internationally, and adding lots of love.
The award-winning pizza flour is imported from Italy; the tinned tomatoes come from one of the world’s best tinned tomato suppliers, MUTTI; the higher welfare lamb is certified free range; the grass-fed beef hails from the KZN Midlands; and amazing locally produced cheeses and handpicked vegetables from local markets are used.
