MasterChef runner-up to intern at The Greenhouse

Sue-Ann Allen, runner up of the first MasterChef SA, will be sharpening her culinary skills with a month’s internship with Peter Tempelhoff at Eat Out’s Restaurant of the Year, The Greenhouse at the Cellars-Hohenort Hotel.

“We are delighted to welcome Sue-Ann to The Cellars-Hohenort and we are sure that she will enjoy her time working with our team,” says Peter. “I was extremely impressed by the way she executed my dish during one of the elimination challenges. Sue-Ann shows real promise and I look forward to mentoring her in the coming weeks.”

Peter Tempelhoff is group executive chef for The Collection by Liz McGrath and oversees the six restaurants across the three hotels, including the flagship restaurant, The Greenhouse, which was named Restaurant of the Year at the 2011 Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards. Peter was also awarded Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef status in November 2011.

Sue-Ann says, “I am really excited to be learning from Peter Tempelhoff. [He’s] such an amazing chef! I have admired him for a very long time and to have this opportunity to experience a real working kitchen such as The Greenhouse is a dream come true.”

Also enjoying the aftermath of his success on the show is the MasterChef SA winner, Deena Naidoo. He’s embarked on a joint venture with Tsogo Sun for a period of two years, and will open a restaurant soon. MasterChef judge Benny Masekwameng, who is also a Tsogo Sun executive chef, will be on hand to guide and support Deena at his new spot at the SunSquare Montecasino Hotel. Read more here.
