South African restaurant group The Kove Collection is spreading its branches across the sea to London with the opening of Kurobuta, the first of its eateries on foreign soil. The restaurant, which started as a pop-up concept on Kings Road, was inspired by Japanese izakayas, traditional taverns that serve food and drinks.
Chef-proprietor Scott Hallsworth, who refined his sushi-making skills as head chef at Nobu London and Melbourne, serves fusion dishes such as miso-grilled baby chicken with spicy lemon garlic sauce; Wagyu beef sliders in steamed buns; and Jerusalem artichoke chopsticks with truffle ponzu dip. The relaxed setting will also offer cocktails and sake, with separate bar and alfresco dining areas.
The South African restaurants that form part of The Kove Collection are 5 Rooms Restaurant, The Bungalow, La Belle, Pepenero, Paranga, The Rose Bar, Umi at the Marly and Zenzero.
