After the latest gruelling and nail-biting rugby match that took place between South Africa’s Bokke and France, it is safe to say that while Paris might have the glitz and glamour, it has nothing on the might and talent of the Springbok team.
With the Springbok team heading to the Rugby World Cup 2023 semi-final, we thought we’d shed the spotlight on our very own ‘Parys’, not to be confused with Paris.
The small and vibrant town is located in the Free State and is less than an hour’s drive from Johannesburg. As the epitome of ‘small-town charm’, this quaint town is a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the City of Gold.

Biki Byte Bistro is located on the banks of the Vaal River and is a family-friendly dining spot, furry loved ones included. The restaurant offers a range of dishes that highlight the diversity of South African cuisine – from butter chicken to vetkoek and more.
Located on the prominent Breë Street in Parys, La Vie en Rose is considered a hidden gem of the small town with unmatched warm hospitality. The café offers classic sweet baked treats such as cheesecake, chocolate cake and the like. In addition, brunch options such as the classic eggs and toast are available along with other main meal options.
The café is also home to a gift shop that features quaint art pieces, jewellery, trinkets and more.
