The Good Food and Wine Show has been around for over a decade and is one of the highlights of the local culinary calendar. This year, Capetonians can explore their inner (and outer) foodie from Tuesday 29 May to Thursday 1 June at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). With the focus on new sensations, foraging, sustainability and world food trends, the event is sure to inspire. Fittingly, the Good Food and Wine Show is also one of the anchor events for 2014 World Design Capital Cape Town.
Visitors will be given 3D glasses upon arrival and enter the show through a ‘sensations’ tunnel before they encounter the various hubs inside. They can also look forward to a wide range of interactive theatres with their favourite local and international chefs, grab new cookbook releases and even get their copies autographed. Featured food personalities include Two Greedy Italians (Gennaro Contaldo and Antonio Carluccio), Italian Masterchef judge and three Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco, Thai masterchef Vichit Mukura, Deena Naidoo, David Higgs and Leandri Van Der Wat.
Other highlights include the restaurants quarter, where eight top restaurants will offer their signature dishes from their winter menus, as well as a gourmet food trucks section. The show also provides heaps of entertainment for the kids. CBeebies presenter Katy Ashworth will be showing kids how to have fun with healthy cooking, lunchboxes, smoothie creations and interactive gardening workshops.
Tickets are available through Computicket or at the door at R125 per adult and R50 per child under 12. (Free for children under 3.)
Don’t feel left out if you’re not in Cape Town!
