Lexus is Eat Out’s official motor partner and sponsor of the Eat Out Lexus Best Destination Restaurant Award, which will be announced on 31 March at the Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant Awards.

Proudly entering a new sub-category, Lexus has launched the all-new GX 550 range, which includes the GX 550 Overtrail and the GX 550 SE. Luxurious and capable, the range will take you wherever you need to go, ensuring you have the power to explore any terrain you desire.

Crafted for 4×4 enthusiasts with a thrill for adventure, these vehicles are kitted with unstoppable performance, next-level off-roading capabilities and luxurious finishes. Here’s a look at the range and everything it has to offer those on the hunt for adventure.

The GX 550 Overtrail

The most capable off-roading vehicle in the range, the GX 550 Overtrail is a five-seater terrain-ready SUV with a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, producing 260kW of power and 650Nm of torque. Available in monotone and bi-tone colours, the Overtrail features an E-KDSS (Electronic Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) and a Rear Differential Lock, ensuring no trail is left undiscovered. Its 10-speaker Lexus Premium Audio System brings sound to your adventure and its sleek moonroof brings the outside environment in as you drive.

It also features 18-inch wheels and a matte-grey finish for a true off-road look, an under-protector to help protect the underside of the vehicle during those off-road explorations, side-step rails to assist with comfortably entering the vehicle, solid three-dimensional L-shaped signature headlamps placed higher up on the vehicle to avoid impact from road debris and an all-new signature grille.

No matter the conditions, this vehicle is ready for the journey ahead.

The GX 550 SE

Rooted in luxury, the GX 550 SE is a premium petrol seven-seater cruiser that houses a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine, producing 260kW of power and 650Nm of torque. It comes in monotone colours and has a 21-speaker Mark Levinson® Audio System to ensure an immersive sound experience. The Double Wishbone Suspension and a Rear Differential Lock make navigating rocky trails and sandy dunes as smooth as a casual drive in the city, while the convenient Kick Sensor allows for easy access to the boot. Other highlights include a refreshment-ready fridge console box and a Panoramic Roof to let the light in on those gorgeous sunny road trips.

The GX 550 SE also features 22-inch alloy wheels and a dark-grey finish, an under-protector to help protect the underside of the 4WD vehicle, auto-retractable side-step rails, solid three-dimensional L-shaped signature headlamps and the new signature grille.

Safety first

The GX 550 range champions safety at every turn with a host of engineered safety features, so you only need to focus on enjoying the drive. These include a Pre-Crash System, Emergency Brake Signal, Ultra-Wide Band Anti-Theft System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert & Intelligent Clearance Sonar, Blind Spot Monitor with Standard Safe Exit Assist and a Lane Keeping System.

Cutting-edge technology

A Wireless Charger, Multi-Information Display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Heads-Up Display and a 6PCs Type C charger mean that you have access to the best in car technology. Not to mention the Multi-Terrain Select Monitor that uses underfloor, side, front and rear view, giving you full sight of the environment around you. If you opt for the SE model, you’ll also be able to enjoy a digital rearview mirror.

The new GX 550 range is a powerhouse in every aspect, all that’s left to say is: let the adventure begin.
