Located in the leafy suburb of Constantia, La Colombe  – 2023 Eat Out Woolworths Restaurant of the Year – has been nominated for the globally acclaimed Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2024 for its Secret Cellar.  

Held annually, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards aims to shine the spotlight on innovative design and the creatives behind iconic and unique food and beverage spaces. 

With 18 set categories designated in the awards, La Colombe’s Secret Cellar has been shortlisted in the small spaces category and is the only South African venue to be nominated for the awards.   

It was designed by MR, a local design studio that focuses on creating and curating spaces by bringing stories to life with the use of spaces and objects.  

The Secret Cellar at La Colombe is a visual and enticing marvel featuring an in-walled wine cellar and echoes a merger of nature and raw materials. It’s so secret that those who enter are required to leave their phones in a secure box at their table.

The winners of the awards will be announced at an official ceremony held in Barcelona on 31 October 2024.

At the illustrious event, the overall regional winners of the best restaurant and bar will be announced.
