An exquisite cocktail bar and blues lounge has opened just ahead of the festive season. The Blue Room at Grub and Vine, a collaboration between acclaimed chef and restaurateur Matt Manning and talented jazz artist Buddy Wells, brings a sophisticated elegance with a touch of soul and seriously good chow to 103 Bree Street in Cape Town.

In keeping with the location’s roots, the space is a seriously stylish studio with some first-class refreshments from Grub and Vine’s kitchen, which you can enjoy while watching a live music recording through the viewing window or at a wholesome blues evening out on the town. The space was formerly a recording studio and will continue to operate as a fully functional recording studio.

Guests can expect live performances by some of the country’s top jazz, soul and blues artists at The Blue Room. The all-star festive season lineup is not to be missed and includes the likes of Nobuhle Ashanti, Darren English, Tefo Mohala and Hilton Schilder’s Goema Club.

In addition to being a stunning cocktail bar and blues lounge, the location will also serve as Grub and Vine’s chic new lunch spot during the day. Recording studio-come-lunchtime eatery-come-blues and cocktail lounge: this is an ingenious and creative use of space in the bustling Mother City!

“As with dining out, music is one of those things that add magic to life,” says Matt Manning. “Through marrying my experience in hospitality with my passion for jazz, I wanted to provide an exciting platform for local talent, which would breathe new life into Cape Town’s music scene.”
