We love South Africa and its little pockets of uniqueness. And this festival really proves the rule of the internet: if you can think of it, someone is into it. Yes, dear readers, there is a festival dedicated to potjie and mampoer taking place at Stonehaven on the Vaal River on Saturday 26 July 2014.

Attendees can look forward to a potjie cook-off, mampoer (a rather hardcore homemade fruit liquor), jukskei, sokkie with DJ Eddie, entertainment for the kids, traditional boerekos, a beer tent and boeremusiek.

Guests are encouraged to dress in their country-western best to win prizes – and perhaps their 15 minutes of fame, as SABC3’s Expresso TV Show will be covering the event.
