10 restaurants you should have on your radar right now

We know what you’ve been up to on the new Eat Out app. (We’re surprised by some of it, tbh. You guys are a source of constant inspiration to us!) Here are the top 10 restaurants app users checked out in June.

1. De Grendel Restaurant (Panorama, Cape Town)  ?

This elegant and inviting wine-estate restaurant remains a hit. The words authenticity, technique and provenance ring true, and our critic reckons dining here is a pleasure every time. Worth testing the theory, no?

Available for online bookings on the Eat Out app.

2. Jordan Restaurant (Stellenbosch)

Ranked at number 14 on our list of nominees for the Top 10 for 2018, this Winelands spot by George Jardine is always a winner for spectacular views and simple but delicious fine-dining fare.

3. Giulio’s Café (Cape Town city bowl) ?

It’s so pretty inside this corner favourite plus it offers hot drinks, pastries, wood-fired pizzas and a harvest table. Crowds keep coming back for more and linger over these sociable meals.

Available for online bookings on the Eat Out app

4. The Eatery Wood Fired Grill (Claremont, Cape Town) ?

Highly commended in the 2016 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries, this suburban steakhouse specialises in all things meat, from espetada to pork ribs. Friendly service and a cosy buzz make it a popular spot with locals.

5. The Shortmarket Club (Cape Town city bowl)

This inner-city eatery is enjoying its first year in our Top 10. Put on your shiny shoes for this one, folks. It’ll be a night to remember.

6. Yamitsuki (Bedfordview, Johannesburg)

Sushi, noodles, teppanyaki and dim sum are all on offer here. The two-for-one gin, wine and sushi specials make this one particularly popular.

7. De Kloof Restaurant (Waterkloof, Pretoria)

A playful menu and an impressive wine list of local and international names secure this elegant golf-course restaurant as one for special occasions. Also bookmark it for great views.

8. BBQ Workshop (Kyalami Corner, Johannesburg)

A holy trinity of wood-fired barbecue ribs, souvlaki and gelato is just the ticket to get on this list. (Psst, been to BBQ Workshop recently? Write a review!)

9. Brooklyn Brothers (Glenfair, Pretoria)

You can’t go wrong with burgers, craft beers and shakes, as shown by this US-style diner in the sunny city of Pretoria. Check out their World Cup wings special running in July.

10. Burger & Lobster (Cape Town city bowl) ?

Made-from-scratch burgers are hot here, as well a new range of bar snacks. Think mini prawn rolls, lobster-and-prawn bites, pork ribs with a Jack Daniel’s glaze, and bacon-filled mac-and-cheese balls wrapped in phyllo pastry.
