The team behind Cape Town’s popular restaurant, Pizza Shed, have swung open the doors to a new bar called Aperitif, gaining attention as a refined yet unassuming hangout for gatherings with friends or a moment of personal relaxation. Given the thriving bar scene in the city and the widespread acclaim for Pizza Shed’s artisanal Neapolitan-style pizzas, this expansion feels like a natural progression.
The name Aperitif comes from the Italian word “Aperitivo”, and refers to a pre-dinner drink often accompanied by a small savoury snack. The popular tradition is served to stimulate the appetite before a meal.
For cocktail enthusiasts, Aperitif’s menu boasts both classic aperitivo spritzers, a small range of sours and popular classic cocktails like the Bellini, Negroni, and Martini. For something a little different, their ‘Unici’ cocktail provides a unique spin on the classics, and look out for the Cacao nib Negroni, which is served with candied orange dipped in chocolate!
Their carefully chosen wine list primarily features wines from local, small-scale producers and the bar also places emphasis on non-alcoholic options, presenting a range of enticing mocktails and vermouths.
The small snack menu is inspired by tapas-style bites. It’s recommended by the team that you don’t leave without trying the bruschetta – enjoyed by many as one of the city’s standout snacks.
